One of the best parts of visiting Manassas is exploring the City’s architecture reflecting its 19th-century heritage.
During the Civil War, two opposing presidents – Jefferson Davis and Abraham Lincoln – visited Liberia while meeting with their generals when it served as headquarters in 1861 for Confederates and in 1862 for the Union.
In 1972, Stephen Stills – of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young – helped form the band, Manassas. As a Civil War buff, Stills orchestrated this photo shoot at the historic Manassas train depot for the album cover of the same name.
HISTORIC HEART. MODERN BEAT.
History moves people.
Stories of the past have the power to connect, causing people to reflect on how life was.
And today, this same City continues to move people to visit its hot spots for culinary treats, shopping, arts, and culture.
Come celebrate with us! In 2023, visit Manassas as we commemorate our 150th anniversary of the City’s founding in 1873. Check us out on Facebook and Instagram as our celebration draws near. It’s a history-making, year-long tribute that includes residents, businesses … and YOU!
Come – and play a part in our story.
